September might feel like the time for pumpkin spice lattes with Christmas feeling to be far in the future, but when it comes to the world of shopping it’s officially the time of year where fragrance advent calendars are hitting the market. For those who want to get their hands on the best of them, it’s probably time to start thinking about pre-orders before the most coveted go out of stock. For those who wanted the £215 Harrods Fragrance Advent Calendar it sold out almost immediately, but that doesn’t mean all hope is lost. There’s an impressive range of calendars that put fragrance at the forefront. Whether the person reading this loves a cosy evening with a candle and luxurious bath or prefers perfume, we’ve spent hours trawling the internet to find the best on the market so far. There are full sized products included which we think makes it a bargain for Jo Malone fans who want to try a few other things. For perfume fans who are buying one calendar this year, our fragrance expert thinks this is probably the one to snap up. Penhaligon’s The Advent Calendar Price: £430 Number of products: 24 This is one of the more expensive advent calendars on the market, and it’s not been made explicitly clear anywhere what the actual value is. That said it contains at least perfumes from the brand – although the sizes aren’t clear there are at least 14 perfumes in the set. Some of which aren’t available in the, presumably, 10ml vials they appear to be in in pictures. This means they’re exclusive products that we haven’t seen anywhere else.
