Redford and Szaggars Got Married in 2009
Redford was first married to Lola Van Wagenen between 1958 and 1985. The former couple shared four children: two sons named James and Scott Redford, and two daughters — Shauna and Amy Redford. James and Scott Redford died in 2020 and 1959, respectively.
Redford married his second wife, Szaggars in 2009. Per People, the couple tied the knot in Germany in front of a small group that included 30 family members and friends. At the time, the pastor who officiated the nuptials said the newlyweds “wanted a very intimate ceremony.”
The bride, who had been living in the U.S. for 14 years at the time of her wedding, was affiliated with the parish in Germany.
Szaggars is now 68 years old.
Szaggars is an Artist
According to her website, Szaggars has worked as a multimedia environmental artist for nearly four decades. Her professional mission is to “create art that transcends words, languages, cultures and politics.”
“Szaggars Redford creates art in order to speak to a deeper universal consciousness that’s connected to and dependent on the earth and its environments,” her website reads.
Born in Germany, Szaggars’ artwork has been displayed around the world, including in Europe, Asia and the U.S.
In 2016, Szaggars was the recipient of the U.S. State Department’s Art in Embassies Program for the US Embassy in Paramaribo, Suriname.
As part of the program, she visited with the country’s indigenous people and explored the rainforests. Ten of her pieces of artwork were then permanently displayed in the U.S. Embassy in Paramaribo, Suriname.
Throughout her career, Szaggars has dabbled in multiple art mediums, including painted oil sketches, large oil paintings, watercolor abstracts and photography.
