The Mangaluru Ramakrishna Mission and the Swachh Mangaluru Foundation organised a mural cleaning drive with the cooperation of students from University College, Mangaluru, on Saturday.
The drive covered the stretch of murals from the main gate of the college up to District Government Wenlock Hospital. College Principal C. Ganapathi and senior Swachh Mangaluru volunteer Gopalakrishna Bhat flagged off the drive. College NSS unit coordinator Suresh Kumbhasi was also present.
Mr. Ganapathi praised the continuous service activities of Swachh Mangaluru Foundation and said: “Cleanliness is not just a duty—it is also a reflection of our inner culture.“
Students, under the guidance of senior volunteers Kamalaksha Pai, Shivaram, and Sunanda Shivaram, participated in cleaning the murals and removing posters from pedestrian railings.
During the drive, weeds and overgrown plants around Clock Tower were trimmed and waste accumulated in the nearby fountain pool were cleared.
