GPRTU to Embark on Strike Over Selling of CMB Lorry Station to businessman

The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) and all transport unions will embark on a strike tomorrow, September 16, 2025, to protest the alleged selling of the CMB Lorry Station to businessmen. The union claims that the takeover will negatively impact their business operations.
“It’s about the CMB Lorry Park, which has been in existence for ages. We’ve been working and serving the nation across 16 regions. However, some businessmen have invaded the lorry park, taking away most of the portions. We’re left with limited space, and now they’re trying to take the remaining portion from us. We’re pleading with the government to help us retain the lorry park.”
Speaking at the press conference, the spokesperson of GPRTU Abass Moro hinted that the lorry park is crucial for transportation services across the country.
The union is concerned about the impact of the takeover on their business and the livelihoods of those who depend on the station.
The Association plan to present a petition to President John Dramani Mahama, urging him to intervene in the matter.
No vehicles will operate from the CMB station until the petition is presented to the president.
The union is determined to find a solution to the dispute and retain the lorry park.
