Donald Trump’s doctor has issued a major update after he underwent a checkup on Friday. Concerns have been raised over the US President’s health since he took office in February, after he was photographed with bruised hands on several occasions. As reported by the Mirror , one politician even suggested the erratic 79-year-old could have dementia. This week, Trump spent around three hours at the Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, where he underwent a “scheduled follow-up evaluation”. His doctor, Navy Captain Sean Barbabella, wrote in a one-page memo released on Friday night: “President Donald J. Trump remains in exceptional health, exhibiting strong cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological and physical performance.” As well as the check up, Trump was given a Covid-19 booster vaccine and his annual flu shot. Barbabella also claimed Trump’s cardiac age is around 14 years lower than his 79 years. The evaluation was designed to help prepare for Trump to travel overseas, with trips to the Middle East and Asia planned between now and the end of the month. Among the tests performed were advanced imaging, lab testing and preventive health assessments. The visit was described as a “routine yearly checkup” in a White House update, but Trump underwent his annual check a few months ago in April. The outcome of the evaluation was that Trump was “fully fit” to serve as president. Barbabella performed the test in April too, and wrote in a three-page summary that Trump had lost 20lb since a physical five years prior. He added that the President has an “active lifestyle” that “continues to contribute significantly” to his wellbeing. Trump’s brain functions were assessed during the April tests. He passed. Presidents have the right to withhold health information from the public – however, Trump’s April summary went into great detail, showing information about his weight, body mass index, past surgeries, mental health screenings, cholesterol levels and blood pressure. It comes after Trump failed to show his face during a CNN interview – sparking fresh speculation over his health last week. Viewers were left surprised after they tuned into the interview with the State of the Union host Jake Tapper on Sunday,to find that Trump was nowhere to be seen. Instead, the US President, aged 79, texted his answers in before the show began. The bizarre scenes showed graphics of Trump’s messages on the screen. He addressed his ambitions for peace in the Gaza-Israel conflict during the interview. He also vowed to “complete obliteration” of Hamas if they refused to hand over the hostages.
