The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has proposed eliminating six academic programs as it works to address a $27.5 million budget shortfall by year’s end.
Chancellor Rodney Bennett, on Friday, reaffirmed plans to consolidate additional academic programs, reduce administrative and staff positions, and implement a 1% spending cut across all state-aided campus budgets.
If finalized by UNL and ultimately approved by the NU Board of Regents later this year, these are the six programs that will be axed and the number of faculty who will lose their jobs.
* The Department of Educational Administration, potentially saving $1.95 million and resulting in the elimination of 17 full-time positions.
