The life of Usain Bolt, once the world’s fastest man and one of the most famous atheletes in the world, has changed completely. A freak athlete, he now hardly spends any time in the gym and has stopped running, focusing most of his time on his family, his three kids, and LEGO.
More tellingly, Bolt has revealed that he now gets out of breath even when climbing stairs, and wants to resume a bit of running to ‘get his breathing right’.
“I mostly do gym workouts,” Bolt told The Guardian. “I’m not a fan, but I think now that I’ve been out for a while, I have to actually start running. Because when I walk up the stairs, I get out of breath. I think when I start working on it fully again, I will probably have to do some laps just to get my breathing right,” he added.
Bolt still holds the world records in the 100m (9.58 seconds), 200m (19.19 seconds), and 4x100m relay (36.84 seconds) from his remarkable career. But he has fully adapted to the family-oriented and relaxed lifestyle.
“Well, normally, I wake up just in time to see the kids off to school, and then it depends on what I have to do. If I have nothing to do, I just chill out. I might work out sometimes if I’m in a good mood. I just watch some series and chill until the kids come home. I spend some time with them, hang out, until they start annoying me. Then I leave. And then afterwards, I just stay at home and watch movies, or I’m into Lego now, so I do Lego,” Bolt added.
Many believe that men’s sprinting hasn’t been the same since Bolt’s retirement. Stars have come close to his record and disappeared, but none have matched his worldwide appeal.
