KABUL (Pajhwok): Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani on Monday urged the international community to punish Israel for “all crimes it has committed” as an extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit convenes in Doha, the BBC reports.
The summit, initiated by Qatar in response to Israel’s recent strike on Hamas leaders in the capital Doga, is being attended by Arab heads of state as well as Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other senior leaders.
Addressing a preparatory meeting at the Ritz-Carlton hotel, Sheikh Mohammed said: “It is time for the international community to abandon double standards and hold Israel accountable for all the crimes it has committed.” He called for “firm” and “fierce” measures against the assault.
The Qatari premier also criticised Israel’s obstruction of Gaza ceasefire talks, warning: “Israel must know that its ongoing genocidal war against the Palestinian people, aimed at forcibly expelling them from their homeland, cannot succeed, regardless of any false justifications.”
Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid bin Mohammed Al-Ansari said the summit would also review a draft resolution crafted yesterday by foreign ministers on Israel’s attack on Qatar.
