Finnish President Alexander Stubb is set to visit Uzbekistan, the presidential press service confirmed following a telephone conversation between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Alexander Stubb.
The leaders discussed multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, focusing on trade, economic, and humanitarian collaboration. These issues were reviewed in detail ahead of Stubb’s upcoming visit. “It was noted with satisfaction that constructive political dialogues and interparliamentary exchanges continue. In 2024, trade turnover increased by 24%. Since 2022, the Finnish ‘Nordic’ University has been successfully operating in our country, and projects to develop school education are being implemented,” the Presidential Press Service noted.
The conversation also explored opportunities for cooperation in agriculture, chemistry, energy, mining, telecommunications, and other innovative sectors, including introducing advanced technologies into Uzbekistan’s education system.
To advance practical projects, the presidents proposed convening a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and organizing a business forum involving leading companies from both countries. The discussion additionally covered current international issues, emphasizing the importance of resolving disputes peacefully and in accordance with international law.
