Alan Ferdman | Anti-American Thinking

After reading (the Oct. 8) “Full Speed to Port” column by Mr. Gary Horton, I learned only one thing, and it is Gary is far more delusional today than 20 years ago. Here again is another commentary in which Gary is demeaning to anyone he believes will disagree with him, as he throws out BS without any substance.
Gary, let’s start here. Your attempt to compare American Christians to Middle Eastern oppressive regimes is pathetic. Why don’t you provide the specifics of your beliefs?
If you profess, “rolling back the progress of modernity and conspiring to restrict our freedoms,” translates to allowing men to compete in female sports, or use female restrooms, or allowing individuals who are arrested for committing felonies back on the streets to commit additional crimes until they finally murder someone, or having young children make decisions about gender-changing surgery without obtaining their parent’s consent, because if they are examples of your modern thinking, most Americans will strongly disagree with you. These and many more issues being supported by the left are not modern at all. They are the product of insane thought.
While you wrote, “Conservatism once stood for financial prudence, less government intrusion, upholding traditional moral values, and cautious military commitment,” perhaps you could explain why the left has shut down the government over wanting to spend another trillion dollars funding health care for illegal immigrants, which sounds like reckless spending to me.
Gary, I am not a Christian. At the same time, I have no issue with the United States supporting Judeo-Christian beliefs in the way our founders did when our country was formed.
