Parliament says it is ready to welcome newly elected members of Parliament (MPs) who won in the September 16 Parliamentary Elections.

Deputy Clerk of Parliament Chikondi Kachinjika said this in Lilongwe yesterday when CDH Bank donated K10 million to Parliament to assist in preparations for welcoming the new members.

Kachinjika said all preparations for receiving the MPs, who will undergo an orientation programme starting this coming Monday, were in place, such that the financial support had come at the right time.

“We are fully prepared to receive the new MPs and everything is in order,” Kachinjika said.

On his part, CDH Bank Business Development Manager Innocent Chithenga said the funds were donated as part of the bank’s commitment to maintaining a good relationship with the National Assembly.

“We know that there are many needs when new MPs are coming to Parliament. As such, we felt it necessary to assist them,” Chithenga said.
