Two Rock Island bars are closing permanently in October.
Skylight Luxury Lounge at 1325 30th Street will have its final day on Friday, Oct. 31, and Brandon’s Pub & Grille at 3008 Seventh Avenue closed its doors on Thursday, Oct. 9.
Skylight Luxury Lounge
Skylight, a wine bar, regularly holds open mics, readings, comedy nights and other events. The venue opened in December 2022.
“After three wonderful years, I’ve made the difficult decision to close Skylight Luxury Lounge for good. This was not an easy choice, but one made with deep reflection, gratitude, and love for what this journey has been,” the owner, Skylar Willingham, posted to Facebook.
“From the very beginning, Skylight was more than just a lounge — it was a place where friendships were built, laughter filled the air, and memories were made. None of it would have been possible without each of you — our loyal customers, incredible staff, and everyone who showed us support along the way. You all helped bring this dream to life, and for that, I will forever be thankful.”
Willingham did not respond to request for further comment on Thursday.
Skylight plans to host a Halloween Bash on its last night open, Oct. 31.
The night of the Halloween Bash, the poetry group Roaring Rhetoric will host an open mic from 7 to 8:45 p.m. The venue will host a comedy show from 9 to 10 p.m., and Davenport’s DJ Bert Jaaay will perform from 10 p.m. until close.
Brandon’s Pub & Grille
Brandon’s Pub & Grille had served the Quad-Cities for six years. The businesses announced its closing on social media on Monday, Oct. 6.
“This choice comes from a desire to explore new opportunities and directions in our lives. While this marks the end of an incredible chapter, we are filled with deep gratitude for the past six years of unforgettable memories, loyal patronage, and the friendships we’ve built with so many of you,” staff posted to Facebook.
“To the amazing residents of Rock Island (The QC) and our regulars who have supported us from day one—thank you. Your laughter, conversations, and continued support made Brandon’s more than just a place to grab a bite or a drink. You made it a community.”
The post also thanked the bar’s staff for their “commitments, passion, and teamwork.”
Brandon Albertson, owner of Brandon’s Pub & Grille, did not respond to a request for further comment on Thursday.
