The funeral of boxing legend Ricky Hatton is taking place on Friday, October 10, following his death last month aged 46. Thousands of people are expected to pay their respects to the much-loved world champion, who was born in Stockport but was raised and lived in Tameside . His funeral service is being held at Manchester Cathedral at 12 noon and, while attendance is by invitation only, fans of the local icon are invited to line the streets as the funeral cortege makes its way through the city. His hearse is set to make a nearly two-hour journey from Gee Cross in Hyde , where he lived, to Manchester city centre . There are nine locations along the route where members of the public will have the opportunity to bid farewell to the boxing legend.
