Staten Island HS bowling: Petrides’ Kiara Lombardi (three-peat), Tots’ Jonathan Mendez roll to crowns in PSAL Borough Individuals
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Kiara Lombardi of Petrides rolled to her third straight PSAL Borough Individuals crown in the girls’ division and Jonathan Mendez of Tottenville was the boys’ winner Thursday at Showplace Entertainment Center.
Lombardi, a senior, uncorked a 635 series, and needed every pin to deny runner-up and senior Meagan Brady of Tottenville, who fired a 624. Senior Leah Mazzoni of New Dorp placed a distant third with a 512 pinfall.
Lombardi jumped out to a big lead by posting games of 224 and 201 in her first two games, while Brady shot games of 185 and 188. Brady turned in a sizzling 251 in her final game, but Lombardi fired a 210 to keep Brady from catching her.
