A political conflict is escalating in Tamil Nadu after actor-politician Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), released an artificial intelligence-driven video. The video features an AI depiction of the late Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) founder, C.N. Annadurai, appearing to endorse Vijay as the chief minister. It uses Annadurai’s famous line, “Thambi vaa, thalaime thangavaa,” meaning “come and lead,” to position Vijay as his chosen successor. This video is a direct attack on the current DMK government, led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, criticising dynastic politics and corruption. The TVK’s video notably focuses its attack exclusively on the DMK, without mentioning the AIADMK. The release was timed just before the DMK’s annual event commemorating Annadurai’s birthday.
