Dublin Woman Aims To Be 'Face Of Halloween' To Raise Money For Children's Charity

Dublin resident Terra Jarvis is using her love of Halloween to raise money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
DUBLIN, CA — A Dublin woman is hoping she has a “Face of Halloween” that’s scary enough to win money for her favorite charity.
Terra Jarvis is taking part in the Face of Halloween contest, a nationwide campaign that invites people to vote for the person with the scariest Halloween mask. The winner will win $13,000, a feature in Rue Morgue Magazine, and the opportunity meet famed horror actors Jamie Lee Curtis “Halloween”), Matthew Lillard (“Scream”), and Kane Hodder (Jason Voorhees in “Friday the 13th.”)
“I believe I am the Face of Halloween because I have loved Halloween and horror since I was 5 years old,” Jarvis told Patch in an email. She’s a fan of Stephen King, the “Halloween” film franchise, and still sees all the latest horror movies. She’s also a Halloween costume and haunted house enthusiast who goes all out each year coming up with a costume and decorating her home.
The contest means more to her than just her love of all things Halloween. All funds are donated to the Starlight Children’s Foundation, a foundation that delivers toys, games, video games, and clothing to children with serious illnesses to improve their mental health. It also provides resources to the children’s families trying to navigate their care.
“It’s been such a meaningful experience because I almost lost my daughter,” Jarvis wrote. “At 4 days old, my daughter was in the E.R. and admitted for several weeks due to medical malpractice. Overall, I know what it feels like to have a child in the E.R. and be admitted to the hospital for several days. I can relate to these parents who have their children in the hospital 24/7 for illness, cancer, and disease.”
Voting ends October 31. To vote, go to Jarvis’ page. One person can vote for free every 24 hours, and additional votes can be purchased by donating to the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
