The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is intensifying efforts to woo Bengali voters this election season, targeting migrant Bengalis with voting rights across India. The party aims to position itself as the political force that respects and celebrates Bengali traditions and culture. Durga Puja Celebrations as Political Outreach Under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat’ initiative, BJP’s message is clear: Durga Puja is a national festival, not just a vote bank festival. The party emphasizes alignment with the protector of culture, highlighting how Trinamool Congress (TMC) corruption has led Bengal into a downward spiral. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stressed that all MPs must actively participate in festivals important to local populations, such as Onam in Kerala and Durga Puja with Bengalis, forming part of BJP’s extensive national outreach plan. Targeting Migrant Bengalis in Metropolitan Cities Given that Bengalis reside in large numbers across metropolitan cities and other states, Durga Puja provides an ideal moment to connect emotionally and culturally with them while promoting the party’s vision of Viksit Bangla. The party plans to engage Bengalis in over 20 states and cities where the Bengali population exceeds 25,000. The outreach will include pandals, cultural programs, and public lectures, aiming to celebrate Bengal’s cultural heritage nationwide while raising awareness about TMC’s misgovernance. Chai Pe Charkha and Sneha Milan Programs Planned To strengthen voter engagement, BJP has prepared lists of Badals and organizing committees and is hosting ‘Chai Pe Charkha’ sessions with influential Bengalis until September 30. Outreach activities will also target Bengali Hindu bastis, identifying 101 districts with significant Bengali Hindu populations in other states. Sneha Milan programs will be organised by politicians and former district presidents, with local ministers, MPs, and MLAs participating to connect directly with voters. BJP’s nationwide Bengali outreach aims to celebrate culture, foster emotional connect, and encourage participation in the upcoming West Bengal elections, reinforcing the party’s cultural and political footprint.
