Both Jessica Madsen and Brett Gelman have been cast in the upcoming Apple TV+ series “Wild Things,” Variety has learned exclusively.
The eight-episode series is based on the Apple Original Podcast, “Wild Things: Siegfried & Roy,” and tells the story of the legendary Las Vegas magicians. Madsen and Gelman join previously announced leads Jude Law and Andrew Garfield as well as fellow cast member Justin Theroux.
The official logline for the show states that it “tells the wild ride relationship tale of two of the greatest showman-magicians in history who, along with their white tigers, are tasked with turning Sin City into a family-friendly destination. The duo push the concept of illusion versus reality to the extreme, personally and professionally, until tragedy reframes and opens a mystery surrounding their last fateful Las Vegas show.”
Gelman will play Bernie Yuman, Siegfried and Roy’s longtime manager, while Madsen will play Lynette Chappell. Chappell was a longtime friend and onstage collaborator of the duo’s, appearing in their act as the “Evil Queen.”
Gelman will return as Murray Bauman in the fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series “Stranger Things,” which will debut in three parts beginning Nov. 26. Gelman is also known for his role in the hit Amazon series “Fleabag,” appearing in both seasons. His other roles include shows like “Mr. Mercedes,” “Love,” and the Apple series “Lady in the Lake,” as well as films such as “The Other Guys,” “Boy Kills World,” and “The Disaster Artist.”
He is repped by MGMT 360 and CAA.
Madsen is best known for playing Cressida Cowper in Netflix’s hit regency drama “Bridgerton,” while she has also been in shows like “Mr Selfridge” and “Babylon.” In film, she is known for her work in “Rambo: Last Blood” and “Leatherface.” Next up, she will appear in the viking drama “Bloodaxe” at Amazon Prime Video.
She is repped by Ethos Entertainment & United Agents.
John Hoffman developed “Wild Things” for television and will serve as executive producer, showrunner, and director. Both Law and Garfield will executive produce in addition to starring. Matt Shakman is attached to executive produce and direct the first episode. Brian Grazer will executive produce for Imagine Entertainment, alongside executive producers Tony Leondis and Kathy Ciric. Will Malnati, who conceived “Wild Things: Siegfried & Roy,” will executive produce the project alongside Steven Leckart, who wrote, narrated, and executive produced the podcast for At Will Media.
