Calling India ‘so much less wasteful and resourceful’ than America, a US woman living in India hailed the country’s repair culture. Yes, believe it or not- getting broken things fixed, before down-right replacing them with something new- is not exactly a global thing. Or so is what can be said on the basis of this US woman’s appreciation post. Talking about the same, the woman- Kristen Fischer- shared how almost everything broken can be fixed in India, at a much lower cost. However, back in the US, fixing a broken belonging often allegedly cost more than its original price, as per the woman. Fischer then recalled how she accidentally broke a kettle; however, she easily got it fixed at a repair shop- for simply Rs 30. The woman further loved how the country has many repair shops almost everywhere. The post began to circulate on social media, resulting in other Indians joining in and thanking her for the compliments. Times Now could not confirm the details and the authenticity of the post. Check out the viral post: “It is not like this in America. If something is broken in the USA, people would simply buy a new one. It typically costs more to repair an item than to replace it. But in India, you can find simple repair shops anywhere and fix anything for a very low cost. You can have appliances, shoes, phones, clothing, and pretty much anything else fixed, repaired, or mended. Another reason I think India is so much less wasteful and resourceful than America,” the post read. The post was shared on Instagram, by the handle ‘Kristen Fischer’. The post was shared a while back and pulled more than 11K views from people.
