The pulse polio immunisation camp will be organised across the district on Sunday (October 12) to save 1.33 lakh children in the district from poliomyelitis.

In a statement, District Collector R. Sukumar said the children under the age of five years in village and urban areas, migrant labourers working in hotels, temporary tents, construction sites, brick kiln etc. will be administered the polio drops through 964 camps. Moreover, children on the move will be covered through the camps to be set-up on the Bypass Roads, tollgates etc.

A total of 4,109 personnel including 710 health workers and nurses, 63 college students, 1,842 nutritious noon meal scheme workers and 1,494 volunteers will participate in the drive.

The uncovered children will be administered the polio drops by the health department personnel during the door-to-door visit, he said
