Ghana clinches top 16 spot at Enactus World Cup

Ghana’s flag flew high at the Enactus World Cup 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand, where the national champion team from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) secured a coveted place in the global Top 16.

Competing from September 25 to 28 alongside 31 other national teams, the KNUST innovators impressed with projects that transformed agricultural waste into solutions for health, sanitation, and the environment.

Their initiatives included AGRIMAKE, which produces biodegradable packaging and organic fertilizer from plantain stems; SUNAWASH, which turns plantain waste into medicated and laundry soap; and PEELLNOVA, which repurposes fruit waste into mosquito-repelling products to fight malaria.

These ventures, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, drew admiration from the global audience.

The delegation was led by Tetse Nii Bortey Kofi Frankwa II, Nungua Mankralo and Enactus Ghana board member, alongside Evans Hokey, Programs Director of Enactus Ghana, and senior KNUST academics including Professor Charles Ofosu Marfo and Professor Ahmed Agyapong. The student team, headed by President Success Baba Peters, showcased remarkable technical and business skills throughout the competition.

Enactus Ghana hailed the achievement as a milestone for higher education and youth innovation, noting that it “serves as an inspiration for other universities and young entrepreneurs across the country.”

With the 2025 edition concluded, attention now turns to São Paulo, Brazil, where Ghana hopes to build on this success at the 2026 World Cup.
