In addition to the text of the obituary, any photographs that you wish to include can be attached to this email. Please put the text of the obituary in a Word document, a Google document or in the body of the email. The Reading Eagle also requires a way to verify the death, so please include either the phone number of the funeral home or cremation service that is in charge of the deceased’s care or a photo of his/her death certificate. We also request that your full name, phone number and address are all included in this email.
All payments by families must be made with a credit card. We will send a proof of the completed obituary before we require payment. The obituary cannot run, however, until we receive payment in full.
Obituaries can be submitted for any future date, but they must be received no later than 3:00 p.m. the day prior to its running for it to be published.
Please call the obituary desk, at 610-371-5018, for information on pricing.
POTTSTOWN — You don’t have to be an artist to help restore the street mural in front of the YWCA Tri-County Area in Pottstown.
Since 2021, YWCA Tri-County Area has maintained a Black Lives Matter street mural in front of its Early Education Center at 315 King St. Weather and traffic fade the paint over the course of a year; so each October, volunteers assist in refreshing the mural with bright new paint.
In advance of YW’s Week Without Violence block event on Saturday, Oct. 24, YW will host volunteers from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, October 22. YW welcomes all who are interested in restoring the mural for all or part of the day; volunteers will apply fresh paint to the artwork designs on the street.
Week Without Violence is an annual initiative of YWCA USA to raise awareness about gender-based violence and promote actions to end it. The 2025 theme, “Safe Beginnings: Protecting Mothers, Nurturing Futures”, emphasizes supporting mothers and their children in building healthier futures.
Week Without Violence brings people together in raising awareness of violence and in activities that foster healing and resilience for the entire community.
To sign up to paint, or for more information about volunteering at YWCA Tri-County Area, contact Sharon Soper, director of business development, at 610-323-1888 or Sharon.soper@ywcatricountyarea.org
