Week 6 Power Rankings: Lions roar to top spot; Bills slip

Last week’s rankings in parentheses.
1. Detroit Lions (3). Have run off four straight wins after an ugly loss to Green Bay in Week 1, although there are some questions remaining about the defense.
2. Philadelphia Eagles (1). Somehow averaging less than 100 rushing yards per game, even with Saquon Barkley on the roster. Something’s not right with the offense.
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5). Rachaad White stepped in for the injured Bucky Irving at running back, and the Buccaneers’ offense didn’t miss a beat.
4. Buffalo Bills (2). There were signs a game like this was coming. Losing to New England is one thing, looking so sloppy in doing so is another.
5. Indianapolis Colts (9). Daniel Jones is making a serious case for MVP. You read that correctly.
6. San Francisco 49ers (10). Kyle Shanahan showed why he is one of the best coaches in the league, leading a group of backups into Los Angeles for a big win over the Rams.
7. Jacksonville Jaguars (13). Trevor Lawrence’s game-winning touchdown run against Kansas City wasn’t a thing of beauty, but the end result was – especially in Buffalo.
8. Los Angeles Rams (7). A pair of missed kicks proved costly in a loss to a beat-up 49ers team. The Rams probably should be 5-0, but you are what your record says you are.
9. Seattle Seahawks (8). Sam Darnold thew a crucial late interception against Tampa Bay, but he still went off for 341 yards and four touchdowns. He has been an upgrade over Geno Smith.
10. Washington Commanders (14). Solid road win over the Los Angeles Chargers was much needed because the schedule gets tough the next five weeks.
11. Pittsburgh Steelers (11). The AFC North couldn’t be playing out any better for them.
12. Green Bay Packers (12). An early bye week gave the Packers time to do some self scouting. One area to clean up: Penalties. They’re averaging nearly nine per game.
13. Kansas City Chiefs (4). If the playoffs started today, the Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals would all be on the outside in the AFC. That’s wild.
14. Denver Broncos (15). Headed to London on a high after a road win at Philadelphia. The winless New York Jets await across the pond.

15. New England Patriots (19). Made a massive statement in Buffalo. Stefon Diggs’ recovery from a torn ACL less than a year ago is remarkable.
16. Los Angeles Chargers (6). Just when you start to believe in them … the last two weeks happen. Justin Herbert is getting beat up behind a makeshift offensive line.
17. Houston Texans (25). Their three losses – to the Rams, Bucs and Jaguars – are by a combined 13 points. Those don’t look too bad now.
18. Arizona Cardinals (16). A home loss to the Tennessee Titans? Woof. Head coach Jonathan Gannon getting fined $100,000 for his interaction with a player? Double woof.
19. Baltimore Ravens (17). The sky just might be falling in Baltimore after getting humiliated by Houston.
20. Chicago Bears (18). Four of their next six coming out of an early-season bye are on the road. Gut-check time.
21. Dallas Cowboys (22). Dak Prescott has put up huge statistical games the last two weeks – right after most fantasy owners gave up on him.
22. Minnesota Vikings (20). Justin Jefferson showed again against the Cleveland Browns why he is the best receiver in the NFL.
23. Atlanta Falcons (21). Have the benefit of facing the Bills on extra rest after their bye in Week 5.
24. Cincinnati Bengals (23). Took my advice and traded for a quarterback, the ancient Joe Flacco.
25. Carolina Panthers (24). Was ready to write them off entirely before a nice comeback win over Miami.
26. New Orleans Saints (30). Followed up a good effort in Buffalo with their first win.
27. Cleveland Browns (27). Are we nearing Shedeur Sanders time at quarterback?
28. Miami Dolphins (28). Can’t blow that game to the Panthers.
29. New York Giants (29). Jaxson Dart turned it over too much, but he has potential.
30. Tennessee Titans (32). Titans-Raiders in Week 6. They’ll sell you the whole seat, but you’ll only need the edge.
31. Las Vegas Raiders (26). Fantasy dud of the year so far belongs to tight end Brock Bowers.
32. New York Jets (21). The last remaining winless team.
