Channing Tatum has his daughter to thank for some of his biggest roles to date.
The Roofman actor, 45, recently opened up about his process for selecting his roles — and how his 12-year-old Everly daughter plays a big part in the decisions he makes. During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Tatum explained that he always consults Everly before accepting a role.
“It’s a balance and a constant negotiation,” Tatum said on the show. “I actually just had a conversation with my daughter on the way to school, like two days ago, because I’m trying to make some decisions on a movie to go do next year that’s gonna be in Australia and I won’t get to see her for almost two months.”

Tatum explained that the only time he’d ever been away for that long was when he filmed Roofman in North Carolina. But now Everly is in middle school which he says is a lot more “demanding” for her and he “wants to be there” for it all.
Looking back, Tatum says he had the same hesitations before accepting his role in Avengers: Doomsday — but it was Everly who convinced him to accept the part.
“I was having the conversation about going to do Avengers because Avengers was going to be in London, same thing. It wasn’t as long but I was like, ‘I don’t know if I want to take it, Ev, because I’m gonna miss the beginning of middle school,’” he explained.
Tatum continued, “She was like, ‘No dad. That’s a really good part, I want you to go do that.’”
He added that while children may not realize the impact of their decisions until later in life, he thinks important for them to feel like they’re a part of it.
