Mangaluru: St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor, has announced a proud sporting achievement as both its men’s and women’s shuttle badminton teams emerged champions in the VTU Mangaluru division shuttle badminton tournament. The event, organised by SJEC, was held on September 8 at the Global Badminton Arena, Vamanjoor.
The home teams displayed exceptional skill, teamwork, and consistency, securing victories against strong competitors from across the division. Their triumph added a new chapter to the college’s sports legacy, reinforcing SJEC’s reputation for excellence both in academics and extracurricular pursuits.
Guidance from sports directors
The achievement came under the mentorship of Vaneesha V Rodrigues, Physical Education Director (PED), and Sudheer, assistant PED. Their rigorous training programmes, strategic guidance, and motivation played a key role in ensuring the students were well-prepared for the tournament.
College authorities highlighted the duo’s efforts in nurturing the talent pool, fostering a disciplined sporting environment, and encouraging players to balance their academic and athletic commitments.

The tournament saw spirited performances by SJEC’s athletes from both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

M Preethan Shaan Lobo (5th sem CSE)

Trivia Creda Veigas (5th sem CSE)
