A PLANNING application for 27 new homes in Trinity has been submitted.
The potential alterations to La Rue du Moulin du Ponterrin as part of a proposed housing development in Victoria Village are due to be discussed at a public presentation to the Trinity Roads Committee later this week.
A planning application submitted by Castletree Eco Village seeks a “comprehensive redevelopment” at La Ruette to provide the new homes.
This would be comprised of four one-bedroom, 12 two-bedroom, one three-bedroom and ten four-bedroom homes, with associated car parking and gardens.
If approved, the scheme – which would also involve the partial demolition of the main property at the site as well as the remodelling and extension of some of the existing buildings – could see road widening and relocation of existing vehicle access on La Rue du Moulin du Ponterrin.
Other elements of the proposal include the creation of new pedestrian access, a public footpath and children’s play space.
In a cover letter accompanying the application, John Nicholson of MSPlanning described the plans as “a great opportunity to deliver a well-considered and characterful development of new homes, of a range of types, onto a brownfield windfall site in the defined built-up area”.
The scheme has drawn dozens of public comments, a number of which have included concerns about traffic.
One Islander wrote that the “quiet country area” would become “greatly over developed”.
Another commented: “The introduction of 27 new homes in such a limited area is excessive and will undoubtedly place an overwhelming strain on local services.”
The potential changes to and impact on La Rue du Moulin du Ponterrin will be discussed during a public presentation to the Trinity Roads Committee taking place this Thursday at 7pm at the Parish Hall.
