Heavy police deployment near residences of BRS leaders ahead of ‘Chalo Bus Bhavan’ protest

Heavy police deployment was seen in parts of Hyderabad on Thursday morning (October 9, 2025), including residences of several Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders as well as at the Rathifile bus stand, ahead of the party’s planned ‘Chalo Bus Bhavan’ protest to demand an immediate rollback of the RTC bus fare hike.

The leaders had planned to gather at the Rathifile bus stand at 9 a.m. and travel by RTC bus to the Bus Bhavan near RTC junction to submit a memorandum to the corporation’s Managing Director.

In Kokapet, a large number of police personnel were stationed outside the residence of BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, while similar deployment was reported near the home of former minister T. Harish Rao, BRS MLA T. Srinivasa Yadav in Secunderabad and other party leaders.

Clarifying reports of house arrest, Rajendranagar DCP Yogesh Goutam said the leaders had already left for Bus Bhavan. “Police personnel were deployed outside their communities for bandobast and security reasons, as we anticipated gatherings in those areas,” he said.

Taking to X, a video was posted from the official BRS handle showing heavy police deployment outside Temple Tree gated community in Kokapet. “Is this governance? Revanth government is resorting to repression without protesting against the hike in RTC bus fares. Police are placing several BRS leaders, including BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao, under house arrest,” the post read.

Meanwhile, Mr. Rama Rao posted another video on his X account, saying, “All I wanted to do is board an RTC bus peacefully, travel to the RTC MD office and submit a letter demanding roll back of the steep hike in bus ticket fares.”

“Look at the number of police officers deployed right now outside my housing complex! All to prevent one person from boarding a bus?! Wish the police show the same level of enthusiasm about controlling the crime rate that is spiralling in Hyderabad,” he said.
