Week 7 Lincoln high school football preview: Two-Minute Drill

Here’s a look at the Week 7 high school football slate around the Capital City, which is one game lighter than usual; Lincoln High cancelled its scheduled contest against Millard South, citing player injuries.
Columbus (5-1) at East (4-2), Thursday, 7 p.m., Seacrest — A disappointing 42-14 road loss to Millard North marked a major setback from an East team which had counted its defense as a major strength. The Spartans will need to be ready to face a powerful Columbus rushing attack.
Omaha Buena Vista (1-5) at Northeast (4-2), Thursday, 7 p.m., UBT Stadium — Now on the edge of playoff contention after suffering back-to-back losses, Northeast can get its season back on track against a struggling opponent. Buena Vista has scored just 21 points all season and zero in its last three games.
Lewiston (2-3) at Parkview Christian (1-4), Friday, 4 p.m. — Now having failed to reach the 14-point mark in each of its losses, Parkview Christian will hope to spark its offense. Lewiston lost a 56-50 thriller to Pawnee City last week.
Bellevue West (3-3) at Southwest (2-4), Friday, 7 p.m., Seacrest — Having overcome an 0-4 start with back-to-back wins, Southwest will test just how much it has improved with a visit from Bellevue West. The Thunderbirds’ three losses came against teams ranked inside the Class A top 10.
North Star (3-3) at Grand Island (0-6), Friday, 7 p.m. — Fresh off a blowout win over Omaha Northwest, the Navigators now face another winless opponent. Grand Island is better than its record indicates, but its lack of scoring has been a season-long issue.
Southeast (3-3) at North Platte (1-5), Friday, 7 p.m. — Still in a strong position for a trip to the playoffs, Southeast shut out Lincoln High last week and will go for another dominant showing against North Platte.
Standing Bear (2-4) at Pius X (2-4), Friday, 7 p.m. — Both teams enter the matchup looking to snap extended losing skids— two games for Pius and three for Standing Bear — with an eye toward making the playoffs. Points will be at a premium in this matchup.
Crete (1-5) at Northwest (1-5), Friday, 7 p.m., UBT Stadium — With both schools having played difficult Class B schedules, a win would mean a lot to either Crete or Northwest. Against shared opponents Ralston and York, it’s the Cardinals who have fared better.
Lincoln Christian (2-4) at Aurora (3-3), Friday, 7 p.m. — There was no shame in losing to undefeated Central City, but a third consecutive loss has Lincoln Christian in need of a bounce-back performance. Aurora enters the matchup on a three-game winning streak.
Class C-2 No. 7 Lincoln Lutheran (5-1) at Palmyra (2-4), Friday, 7:30 p.m. — An excellent Lincoln Lutheran defense will be tested against a high-scoring Palmyra offense. The Panthers have scored at least 20 points in every game this season.
