Alexis Ohanian Makes Feelings Clear About Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce Announcement for Athlos 2025

Few athletes have defined an era like Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. With eight Olympic medals, ten world titles, and a career built on blazing speed and unshakable determination, she’s inspired generations far beyond the track. Now, as she prepares to step away from competition and indulge in her retirement, the tributes continue to pour in. And this week, Alexis Ohanian and Athlos are setting the stage for a special salute to the Jamaican sprint queen.
Serena Williams’ husband and the co-founder of Reddit has often taken a stance to support women in sports. Well, that’s the highlight for Athlos. And this time, he had to honor Fraser-Pryce after she literally passed the baton to the younger generation of Jamaican athletes in her final race. Ohanian took to X and stated, “Told you we had another surprise on deck! Gotta honor the one and only.” So, what was the honor?
On social media, Athlos announced, “Icons don’t just run fast, they move generations. ATHLOS honors Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce this Friday at Icahn Stadium, celebrating a lifetime of speed, excellence and legacy.” They shared a poster that claimed the Jamaican legend would step into the Icahn Stadium on Friday as the guest of honor. In the Instagram post made by Athlos, Ohanian commented, “🙌 you know we had to honor the great SAFP.”
