A south Alabama high school was ranked in the Top 20 of best public high schools in the country, according to high school and college search platform Niche.
The 2026 ranking from Niche lists the Alabama School of Mathematics and Science as the 19th best public high school in the country as well as the best public high school in Alabama.
The magnet school’s additional rankings include being the best high school for STEM in Alabama, the best College Prep Public High School in Alabama and the best Magnet High School in Alabama.
Students from any of Alabama’s 67 counties can attend the school as long as they are in the 10th through 12th grade.
“As Alabama families continue to navigate the School Choice movement and reflect on education options for their children, ASMS is absolutely a school to consider for rising 10th-12th graders,” ASMS President Dr. John Hoyle said.
