Ruben Amorim sack stance as Sir Jim Ratcliffe gives strong response to Glazers intervening

Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has said that the Glazers will not intervene in a decision to sack head coach Ruben Amorim . The United boss has found himself under pressure this season after a slow start to the new Premier League season. The side currently sit in 10th place in the table, having picked up 10 points from their opening seven league games. A 2-0 win over Sunderland in their last outing has eased some of the talk around the manager’s future for now, but another dip is likely to see it reignited. Ratcliffe will be one of the key decision-makers when it comes to Amorim’s future. While he understands the frustration of some fans, the co-owner has hinted that he is prepared to give the manager more time. “The press, sometimes I don’t understand,” Ratcliffe told The Business Podcast . “They want overnight success. “They think it’s a light switch. You know, you flick a switch and it’s all going to be roses tomorrow. You can’t run a club like Manchester United on knee-jerk reactions to some journalist who goes off on one every week.” Talking about his relationship with fellow co-owners, the Glazer family, Ratcliffe said that they were content in letting him take charge. When asked what he would do if the Glazers told him to sack Amorim, Ratcliffe confirmed that scenario will not happen. Amorim signed a three-year deal at Old Trafford in November last year. Ratcliffe has indicated that he is willing to give him time to turn things around. While admitting the head coach has not had the best of starts to life at Old Trafford, Ratcliffe suggested he will show his worth over the full three-year term of his contract. That is what the United co-owner hopes to happen, despite acknowledging the tough past 12 months. United return to Premier League action after the international break when they travel to take on Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, 19 October (4.30pm kick-off).
