There’s no need to head out to Munich for an Oktoberfest Bavarian booze-up this year – because it’s happening right here in Birmingham . Dust off the dirndls and tighten your lederhosen: Oktoberfest is back at Albert’s Schloss for a fourth year running. The city centre bar, located just off Chamberlain Square, has promised to deliver the UK’s biggest bier-fuelled celebration outside of the German city. The party will then continue for three weeks until Sunday, October 12. The venue said will be offering unique Bavarian brews, new dishes and ‘non-stop live entertainment’ throughout the 22 days that will have punters ‘dancing on tables all night long’. It said guests can ‘expect a high-energy schedule of entertainment’ including traditional keg tapping ceremonies and performances from Oompah and brass bands. There will also be ‘wiener-eating competitions’, ‘pretzel and hat tossing’ and ‘bier-guzzling challenges’ – along with best-dressed lederhosen and dirndl competitions. The venue claims it will be the only bar in the city to serve all six of the ‘official Oktoberfest biers’ from Munich’s legendary breweries: Spaten, Paulaner, Lowenbrau, Hacker-Pschorr, Hofbräu and Augustiner. The bar’s Cook Haus will switch-up its menu to hearty Oktoberfest food specials including paprika roasted half chicken, a towering traditional schweinshaxe and a selection of wurst and currywurst. Desserts will come in the form of the ‘München Mess’ and ‘Klassic Apple Strudel’. James Plant, head of innovation at Schloss, said: “We are so happy to be extending Oktoberfest to three full weeks this year. “Every year the energy and enthusiasm from our guests grows, and 2024 completely exceeded expectations. “This year we are going even bigger – with more bier, more showtime and more Bavarian feasting. We cannot wait to welcome everyone back through the doors.” Albert’s Schloss is located at Paradise and is open seven days a week from 11am-2am.
