Former WWE Star is Reportedly Returning to the Company

Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion TJP is reportedly set to return to the WWE Performance Center. A new report from PWInsider.com states that he will be brought in for a guest coaching role later this month.

This would mark the first time Theodore James Perkins has worked with WWE since his release from the company in February 2019. The report notes that WWE has been looking to bring the current New Japan Pro-Wrestling star in for the temporary role.

Since his WWE departure, TJP has been a featured performer for NJPW. He is a member of the popular United Empire stable and is currently one-half of the NJPW Strong Openweight Tag Team Champions, as well as being a three-time former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion.

TJP’s most significant run with WWE began in 2016 when he was a participant in the inaugural Cruiserweight Classic tournament. Competing as T.J. Perkins, he won the 32-man tournament by defeating Gran Metalik in the finals. With that victory, he was crowned the first-ever WWE Cruiserweight Champion for the 205 Live brand.

A veteran of over two decades, Perkins began his career in 1998 after starting his training at the age of 13. He has competed all over the world, including an early run in NJPW as the masked character Puma and a successful tenure in TNA as Manik, where he was a two-time X Division Champion.

While TJP is lending his expertise to the next generation of WWE talent, his primary focus remains on his championship reign in NJPW. As a reigning tag team champion, he is expected to be a major part of the upcoming Power Struggle event in November, bringing a wealth of current, main-event-level experience to the Performance Center.
