Blues sign goaltender Georgii Romanov, who could partner with Vadim Zherenko in the AHL

The Blues found a goaltender to fill the hole in the AHL after Colten Ellis was claimed off waivers by the Sabres earlier this week.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Blues signed goaltender Georgii Romanov to a one-year, two-way contract and then waived him. He is expected to report to AHL affiliate Springfield when he clears waivers.
Romanov, 25, spent the last two seasons in the San Jose organization after signing with the Sharks as a free agent in 2023. Last season, he had a .905 save percentage in 21 AHL games, and a .877 save percentage in eight NHL games. The Sharks did not tender him a qualifying offer this summer.
Romanov attended training camp with the Devils this fall on a professional tryout. In two preseason games, Romanov was 1-1-0 and allowed two goals on 45 shots (.953 save percentage) to go with a 1.21 goals against average.
Romanov will join Vadim Zherenko and Will Cranley in Springfield, but his addition could bump Cranley to ECHL affiliate Florida.
Now, Kyrou can focus on hockey, and his game looks different now than it did just two years ago.
The late rocker Ozzy Osbourne accidentally became part of St. Louis sports lore. This season, the Blues will honor him in a pregame video to pump up the fans.
By the middle of this season, Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington could find himself in the company of two of the best goaltenders in hockey history.
