A 25-year-old Kadoma man has been jailed for kidnapping a teenage girl, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) has reported.
The 25-year-old appeared before the Kadoma Magistrates’ Court, where he was sentenced to eight to an effective eight months for kidnapping the 16-year-old.
The State proved that on the 20th of August 2025, at Patchway Business Centre in Kadoma, the girl was waiting for transport home when the offender lured her into his vehicle.
Initially, other passengers were present, but after dropping them off, he diverted from the intended route under the pretext of refuelling. Instead of taking her home, he drove towards Harare. At the 79km peg along the Harare-Bulawayo Road, the girl bravely alerted police officers at a roadblock, leading to the offender’s arrest.
He was detained at Saruwe Police Station and later convicted of kidnapping.
