'Not Gonna Happen': Ratcliffe On Glazers and Media Pressure, Defends Amorim At Man Utd

Sir Jim Ratcliffe Backs Under-Fire Amorim, Dismisses “Knee-Jerk” Culture at Manchester United Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has publicly defended manager Rúben Amorim, insisting he will not bow to external pressure or fan outrage despite the club’s inconsistent form this season. Speaking on The Business Podcast, Ratcliffe underlined that he is focused on long-term progress rather than short-term reactions. “Amorim has not had the best of seasons. Ruben needs to demonstrate that he is a great coach over the next three years. That’s where I’d be,” said Ratcliffe, emphasising patience and stability in the managerial project. Criticism around United’s performances has been mounting in recent weeks, but Ratcliffe made it clear that decisions at the club will not be driven by outside noise. “You can’t run a club like United on knee-jerk reactions to the press who go off/on one every week,” he said. Ratcliffe also dismissed any speculation that the Glazer family could push him into sacking Amorim amid growing fan frustration. “It’s not gonna happen,” Ratcliffe told The Business Podcast, shutting down rumours of internal pressure from United’s American co-owners. Amorim, who joined Manchester United earlier this year, has faced scrutiny after a mixed start to the season. However, Ratcliffe’s comments suggest the Portuguese manager retains the full backing of INEOS and the football leadership for the long haul. Meanwhile, Manchester United’s hierarchy also believes in Ruben Amorim. According to media reports, Man Utd CEO Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox have spoken to senior players of the United squad and have no qualms regarding the Portuguese coach.
