DDA keeps up momentum with WCMF promotional tour in Guadeloupe

Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) intensified its regional outreach this week through a promotional event in Guadeloupe, emphasizing the island’s tourism attractions and the upcoming World Creole Music Festival (WCMF). DDA reports that this activity is part of a broader mission from September 8 to 13, spanning Guadeloupe and Martinique.

On September 9, the delegation hosted a media reception at Hotel La Creole Beach in Gosier. Over 50 industry stakeholders attended, including officials from the Regional Council, prominent media representatives, and French Consul Clayton Shillingford.

Attendees reportedly enjoyed a live performance by Shelly from Signal Band, providing a sneak peek of the Bouyon music that will feature prominently at the festival.

Participants in the delegation included Sobers Esprit, Deputy Chairman of the DDA Board of Directors; Leroy Charles, Cultural Ambassador; Ayodele Andrew, Festival and Events Manager for DDA; and Marva Williams, CEO of DDA and Tourism Director. Presentations highlighted Dominica’s eco-adventure activities, culinary delights, historic sites, and Kalinago cultural heritage. The team also announced the 25th edition of the WCMF, scheduled for October 24–26, 2025, at Windsor Park Sports Stadium in Roseau.

“Guadeloupe is a vital neighbor and partner for Dominica,” stated Marva Williams, CEO of DDA and Tourism Director. “Our engagement here helps strengthen cultural and tourism ties, showcase Dominica’s unique attractions, and generate enthusiasm for the World Creole Music Festival.”

Beyond the cocktail event, the team participated in interviews with major media outlets such as Canal 10, Guadeloupe Première, France-Antilles, and RCI, ensuring extensive media exposure across Guadeloupe.

The promotional efforts will continue in Martinique with a media cocktail at Hotel Simon in Fort-de-France, stated the press release.

Since its debut in 1997, the World Creole Music Festival has become one of the Caribbean’s premier cultural events. The 2025 milestone edition will feature both regional legends and international performers over three nights of festivities.
