NFL Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson has told Bad Bunny to ‘keep his a**’ away from next year’s Super Bowl halftime show if he truly doesn’t like the United States.

Bad Bunny, real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, was controversially unveiled as the musical act for Super Bowl LX last month, an announcement which sparked contention given his frequent criticism of Donald Trump in recent months.

MAGA commentators have been left furious with the decision to choose the Puerto Rican rapper, who recently refused to tour in the US over concerns that his fans would be targeted by Trump’s ICE agents.

The NFL is facing calls to remove Bad Bunny as the next Super Bowl halftime performer as a result, and Dickerson, 65, says he would rather see someone else receive the honor.

‘I’m from the U.S.,’ the legendary running back told TMZ. ‘I love my country. And if you don’t like the United States, just get your ass out of here and don’t come over here.’

When a photographer reminded him that Puerto Rico is a US territory, Dickerson continued: ‘But, it’s not the U.S. That’s the way I look at it. That’s the way I feel.’

He then added: ‘If Bad Bunny said something about the U.S., don’t come here and perform,’ Dickerson said. ‘You know, don’t come here.’

‘Stay in your country.’

Earlier this week Trump finally weighed in on the controversy surrounding Bad Bunny, who was spotted at a New York Yankees game on Tuesday night, branding the decision to hand him the Super Bowl gig ‘crazy’.

The President told Newsmax that he was unfamiliar with the 31-year-old musician but that the NFL was wrong to choose him given his previously stated dislike for Trump and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

‘I never heard of him, I don’t know who he is, I don’t know why they’re doing it, it’s like, crazy,’ he said.

Trump also claims NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was blaming the decision ‘on some promoter they hired.’

‘I think it’s absolutely ridiculous,’ he added, before tacking on his long-held complaint that the league’s new kickoff rules are ruining the sport.

Amid the Super Bowl controversy, Bad Bunny addressed his critics while hosting last week’s edition of Saturday Night Live.

‘You might not know this but I’m doing the Super Bowl halftime show and I’m very happy and I think everyone is happy about it – even Fox News,’ Bad Bunny said.

A heavily-edited clip then played, stitching together the comments of various Fox anchors and pundits so that they said: ‘Bad Bunny is my favorite musician and he should be the next president.’

He continued: ‘Thank you. Wow, thank you. But really, I am very excited to be doing the Super Bowl and I know that people all around the world who love my music are also happy.’

The rapper than spoke in Spanish for several seconds before finishing his monologue by saying: ‘If you did not understand what I just said… you have four months to learn!’
