Mattel and Barbie are honoring seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams as the newest Inspiring Women doll, available now at both Walmart and Amazon.

Described by the toy manufacturer as a line of dolls celebrating “real-life heroes who’ve shaped history,” the Barbie Inspiring Women Series first launched in 2018 and features a group of authors, activists, artists, athletes and others, with a select number of “Inspiring Women” released each year. “These historical Barbie dolls are more than collectibles; they’re powerful stories told in miniature form,” adds Mattel.

Now, Barbie pays tribute to Venus Williams not only for her athletic prowess, but also for her advocacy regarding gender pay discrimination, demanding the same prize money for the women’s tennis tournament champion as for the men’s. Available while supplies last at both Walmart and Amazon, the limited-edition Barbie retails online for $35.

The Fashion Doll’s outfit is inspired by the tennis attire Williams wore when winning the finals match at Wimbledon in 2007, which was, fittingly, the first year of equal pay for men and women at the tournament. She comes with a visor, necklace, earrings, shoes, sweatband, racket and ball. The Barbie’s Made to Move doll body allows for maximum flexibility and the widest assortment of poses (perfect for a pro athlete).

Collectors will also get displayable packaging, a doll stand and Certificate of Authenticity. On the back of the box reads a famous quote from the world champion, “You have to believe in yourself even when no one else does, that makes you a winner right there.”

Billie Jean King, Jane Goodall, Rosa Parks, Susan B. Anthony and Kristi Yamaguchi are among other still-in-stock Barbies from one of Mattel’s most sought-after series. Check out the full assortment of available Inspiring Women Dolls at Walmart and Amazon.
