The N.C. Transportation Department has delayed by a week — until Oct. 13 — a plan to close the U.S. 52 South ramps off Hanes Mill Road.
The ramp closings are part of the department’s Hanes Mill Road widening project. The ramps will be closed for 30 days, the NCDOT said, and will allow for construction of tie-ins for new ramp and loop alignments.
The ramps are now set to close at 1 a.m. Oct. 13 and last through 11 p.m. Nov. 11, weather permitting.
The department said the contractor asked for the week delay “due to material supply and delivery issues.” The contractor is responsible for all traffic control and detours will be posted.
Detour signs will be used at the on-ramp from Hanes Mill Road to U.S. 52 southbound and the off-ramp from U.S. 52 southbound to Hanes Mill Road. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and plan for alternate routes.
