Barclays has announced a new bonus payment scheme for customers. The banking giant has launched a new deal paying £200 to those who sign up to its Blue Rewards scheme. This is only available for new customers joining Barclays from another bank. The Blue Rewards account comes with a £5 monthly fee and users need to ensure they pay in £800 a month. This essentially means ensuring your salary goes into the account. For a free £200 payments, customers may decide it’s worth it, while people can also quit the account whenever they want. Money Saving Expert explained: “To get Barclays’ £200 free cash, you’ll need to join its Blue Rewards scheme – this costs £5/month, plus requires you to pay in £800+/month and register for digital banking. “Blue Rewards gives a few perks in return for its monthly fee. – Free Apple TV+ subscription (normally £9.99/month) – Free Major League Soccer Season Pass subscription (normally £14.99/month) – 4.36% saver you can put up to £5,000 in (maxed out, it’s £215/year interest, though the rate falls to 4.13% on Oct 30).” “These perks could be worth an ongoing £5/month for anyone already paying for one (or both) of these entertainment subscriptions, but if you’ll not use them, you can opt out of Blue Rewards (or close the account) once you receive the free switcher’s cash. They added: “You won’t qualify if you already have an open Barclays current account on or before October 7. “You can’t have ever received switch cash from Barclays before.”
