Haas’ management puts R360 talks on hold

NRL: Payne Haas’ management has put R360 talks on hold.

Broncos star Payne Haas has put talks with rebel rugby union competition R360 on hold to clarify his obligations to the NRL amid reports of a $10 million code switch.

The Daily Telegraph reported Haas and his management postponed a zoom call meeting with R360 officials, while seeking clarity of their obligations to the NRL.
Haas and his manager Ahmad Merhi were scheduled to meet with R360 officials on Wednesday afternoon but opted to delay talks.
The Broncos premiership winner is off-contract in 2026 and is not allowed to negotiate with rival NRL clubs for 2027 and beyond until the November 1 deadline just over three weeks away.
Haas’ management is seeking clarification if that rule applies to talks with rival codes, including R360, which is set to kick-off in October of next year, just before the NRL Grand Final.
Their approach to the NRL comes as the game’s governing body are set to meet on Wednesday afternoon to discuss sanctions for players and agents who get involved in the rebel league.

ARLC Chairman Peter V’landys has been a vocal critic of the R360 competition, saying, it is a creation from a cornflakes box, with no business plan.
Haas won’t play for another NRL club, but the money on offer, which could be as much as $10 million for two years, means he has to engage R360 for talks in his client’s best interests.

Haas is reportedly set to be offered as much as US$2 million a season, which is the equivalent of $3 million in Australia and could include tax incentives, which help him earn as much as $10 million for a two-year stint in R360.
The Origin star is reportedly eyeing a two-year deal to cash in on the money on offer, before a potential return to the NRL and the Broncos.
Haas is settled in Brisbane and has several dependent siblings to look after with both his parents in jail, so he is weighing up staying close to home with the chance to make life changing money for him and his family.

V’Landys’ ominous warning for R360

Peter V’Landys gave his blunt…

FIFITA’S TITANS FUTURE
David Fifita’s time on the Gold Coast will reportedly come to an end, with the Rabbitohs and Titans negotiating a deal which will see him join Wayne Bennett’s side.
According to Code Sports, the Titans will reportedly contribute $500,000 of his $1 million salary for the remaining two years of his current contract.
However, there’s reportedly a road block due to the Rabbitohs’ top right 30 roster.
While as it stands, Fifita and both parties have agreed on the move, it can’t be confirmed until a spot opens up on the club’s roster.
That is where the Sea Eagles come into the picture, with the potential for Anthony Seibold’s side to take a front row signing early.
Manly have signed prop Davvy Moale for the 2027 season, but are reportedly interested in acquiring his services early, which would open up a spot in South Sydney’s top 30.
But to do so, the Sea Eagles will also have to let a player go to create a spot of their own and are reportedly investigating how they can fit him in their squad for the 2026 season.
South Sydney also recently released English playmaker Lewis Dodd, but his top 30 position was taken by rising star Thomas Fletcher who was elevated.
EX-WALLABY COULD FOLLOW TITANS STAR OUT THE DOOR
One Titan is on the way out of the Gold Coast and another could be about to join him.
The London Broncos have secured their first marquee signing, with Titans enforcer Reagan Campbell-Gillard set to make the move to the Super League.
According to Code Sports, Campbell-Gillard will reportedly sign a two-year deal, joining Jason Demetriou in England.
It comes after the Titans confirmed he was granted an immediate release on Tuesday, despite his original contract running until the end of the 2027 season.
Former Wallaby Carter Gordon could follow Campbell-Gillard out the exit door, with the Sydney Morning Herald reporting the Titans have granted him permission to negotiate with Rugby Australia.
The report stressed that the Titans are not in any rush to release him and won’t do so unless it is on their terms given Carter recently took an option up with the club to stay in 2026.
The 24-year-old would prefer to play in the halves according to the Herald but has been told his path to minutes in the NRL remain in the centres given he is still learning the game.

The publication reported that Gordon’s management has been talking to the Titans about the prospect of an early release so that he can join the Queensland Reds ahead of the World Cup in 2027. Incoming coach Josh Hannay has reportedly been involved in those talks.
As for Campbell-Gillard, new Broncos co-owner Darren Lockyer reportedly sat down with him two weeks ago, outlining his plans to return the Broncos to the top division in the Super League.
Campbell-Gillard was deemed surplus to requirements by incoming Titans coach Josh Hannay, who already has a host of talented forwards at his disposal.
Tino Fa’asuamaleaui, Moeaki Fotuaika, Beau Fermor and David Fifita are all big-money forwards, with the latter potentially also on his way out of the Gold Coast club.
Lockyer recently bought into the Broncos with business partner Grant Wechsel.
STORM ENFORCER ON THE WAY OUT
Storm enforcer Tui Kamikamica could reportedly be set to make a move to the Rabbitohs, with Melbourne powerbrokers unable to table a competitive deal to retain his services.
The front rower was the only player to take the field in Sunday’s grand final without a contract for next season, with teammate Ativalu Lisati agreeing to a 12-month extension.
According to Code Sports, with their salary cap squeeze, the Storm can only offer the 31-year-old a minimum wage contract.
Now the Rabbitohs have emerged as a potential suitor after he knocked back advances from Super League giant St Helens.
South Sydney powerbrokers would have to let one player depart in order to recruit the Fijian powerhouse, but have previously been on the lookout for middle forwards.

As it stands, the Storm’s salary cap position is unlikely to change for the 2026 season to accommodate an upgraded deal for Kamikamica.
However, Nelson Asofa-Solomona could be on the move, while Ryan Papenhuyzen, Cameron Munster and Jonah Pezet all have contract decisions of their own to make.
Therefore, Melbourne could have cap space available in 2027 should they want to retain Kamikamica.
