Call of Duty Black Ops 7‘s multiplayer reveal trailer is live. With the game’s reveal for multiplayer antics out there, there’s quite a lot coming to the game from the sneak preview it has showcased. There are a few new gadgets and killstreaks knocking around, showcasing that somewhat futuristic technology mixed with modern on offer. We also got to see some of the prestige weapon attachments in loadouts. But the thing that stood out the most is the Omnimovement 2.0, which gives us Advanced Warfare vibes.
Movement is one of the most discussed things in the Call of Duty sphere. Omnimovement version one gave players better control over their characters in Black Ops 6. In Black Ops 7, that is going even further, introducing more aerial dynamics to it. In the trailer, the game features wall-running physics, alongside wall-jumping into other areas. The level of creativity on display, with the ability to get around campers, overlook areas, or just find new ways to path around the CoD two to three lane setups, the game is notorious for its level design.
Now we compare it to Advanced Warfare deliberately. The movement is often a talking point of CoD games, and Advanced Warfare is the most high-profile of them all. With more of the slower-paced games, many went back to Advanced Warfare for some really good skill expression. CoD has slowly eroded that in favor of the SBMM lobbies for regular gunplay and map tactics. But, with Omnimovement 2.0 heading towards Advanced Warfare-like movement, it really enhances just how different the lobbies are going to be between higher and lower ELO lobbies. You won’t be getting double jump dashes mid-air. But you do get some speed and get to wall jump around the place, which is something.
Outside of that, we got to see some examples of prestige attachments in loadouts. These are super-modified versions of attachments that grant extra stat bonuses to weapons. You get them in favor of the extremely modifiable gun parts, with some guns only having 4-5 attachment slots. So, expect to grind more for these renowned prestige attachments rather than many gun level stat grinds for lots of attachments.
The other thing showcased was the killstreaks. They look somewhat futuristic with the Black Ops 7 cyber vibe going on. There are more ground drone-type killstreaks, and one even shows off a walking battle droid walking around, which seems like a more advanced Sentry gun killstreak based on its few-second clip in the trailer.
I’ll tell you what, it does look more grounded in the trailer for the aesthetic it’s going for. So, maybe they are taking note from the grounded Battlefield 6 conversations over the last month or two after all, especially with no skins carrying forward.
