New Delhi: In a shocking incident that has unfolded at Delhis Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday 13-year-old boy arrived in India on a Kam Air Lines flight (RQ-4401) from Kabul to Delhi by hiding in the landing gear. This incident came as a major surprise to airport security agencies raising serious questions around the security of the aircraft and people. How did the kid reach India without ticket?
As per media reports airline security personnel noticed a child wandering near the plane at around 11:10 AM on September 21. Upon questioning him the kid revealed that he was from Kunduz Afghanistan. The child also admitted to traveling without a ticket and hiding in the landing gear area during the flight.
Relevant agencies were alerted after the incident and thorough search of the plane was conducted which led to the recovery of a small red audio speaker from the landing gear area. The child was then taken to investigating agencies where he was questioned in detail. After completing all the procedures and formalities he was sent back to Kabul on the same day afternoon by a return flight (RQ-4402) of Kam Airlines.
This incident not only raises serious questions about aviation security but also demonstrates that people from Afghanistan are attempting to reach other countries by any means necessary. Currently Indian agencies have submitted a report on this matter to the relevant authorities.
What aviation experts say on the shocking incident?
Several aviation expert described the act as deadly where they noted that the survival outside the aircraft during flight is nearly impossible.
“After takeoff the wheel bay door opens the wheel retracts and the door closes. He likely entered this enclosed space which may have been pressurized maintaining a temperature similar to the passenger cabin. He could have clung to internal structures to survive aviation expert Captain Mohan Ranganathan was quoted as saying about the risk associated with such travels in a report by the New Indian Express.
