Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Emeka Egbuka has lit up the NFL. After playing college football at Ohio State, Egbuka was drafted by the Buccaneers and on his debut against the Atlanta Falcons, had 4 receptions for 67 yards and 2 touchdown catches. During an April 2025 press conference, Emeka said reaching the NFL is an accomplishment he shares equally with his parents. “They’ve done a phenomenal job raising me, setting the standard for what it is to be a person of high character and high integrity,” he said. “They’ve sacrificed so much for me to be able to get to this point.” All On Emeka Egbuka Family Egbuka was born on October 14, 2002, to Henry Egbuka and Rhonda Ogilvie. He grew up in Steilacoom, Washington, and was active in sports from a young age. After focusing on football, he became the No. 1 wide receiver prospect in the 2023 recruiting class. He played for Ohio State and was drafted in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His father, Henry, moved to the US from Nigeria at age 20. He earned a master’s degree in engineering and now works as a project manager for the US Army. Henry has emphasized education throughout Emeka’s life, requiring him to earn a degree before pursuing the NFL. Emeka’s mother, Rhonda, holds a master’s degree in information systems and works as director of data and analytics at Kaiser Permanente. She has been described by Emeka as positive and supportive. Emeka was also raised by his stepfather, Eric Ogilvie, a professional chef. Emeka credits him with teaching practical skills, such as cooking. He has three siblings: two from his mother and stepfather, and a younger half-sister, Zayna, from his father.
