Former Central Kwara’ae MP passes on, Acting PM conveys condolences

The Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Communication and Aviation, Hon. Frederick Kologeto, conveys on behalf of the Cabinet and the Government Caucus, sincere condolences on the passing of the late Jackson Fiulaua, former Member of Parliament for the Central Kwara’ae Constituency.

The late Fiulaua passed away in Honiara on Sunday, 14th September, at the National Referral Hospital (NRH).

Acting Prime Minister Kologeto acknowledged the humble contributions of the late Fiulaua to the Government that he has served during his three terms in Parliament.

“It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of a former leader and resolute government backbencher in previous governments.

“The late Fiulaua was a humble and truly dedicated servant who contributed to the development of the country and his constituency during his service as a Member of Parliament and Government backbencher,” Kologeto said.

“I, on behalf of the Cabinet and Members of the Government Caucus, extend our heartfelt condolences to the immediate family, relatives, and tribe on the passing of this humble and dedicated former leader,” Kologeto added.

Late Fiulaua served as the Member of Central Kwara’ae Constituency in the Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Parliaments until he was unseated in the 2024 National General Elections.

After a primary school education, Fiulaua began working as a builder. He was later described as “a successful businessman who runs one of the top local construction companies in the country”.

He began his political career when he was elected MP for Central Kwara’ae in the August 2010 general election.

Elected as an independent, the late Fiulaua joined the then Prime Minister Danny Philip’s coalition government, as Minister for Infrastructure and Development.

He also served as the Deputy Chairman of the Government Caucus during the Manasseh Sogavare-led Democratic Coalition for Change Government (DCCG) and the Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement (DCGA), respectively.
