Veteran resource fairs will be held throughout New Jersey in the next several weeks.
Programs range from comprehensive expos featuring dozens of service providers to targeted events focusing on specific areas such as healthcare, employment, or housing.
Here’s the list:
Burlington County Veterans Expo
Date and Time: Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Location: Rowan College, Burlington County’s Student Success Center, 1500 College Circle, Mount Laurel
Hosting Organization: Burlington County Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with the Burlington County Military and Veterans Services Office.
Description: The Burlington County Veterans Expo provides a one-stop resource gathering for the county’s 28,000 veterans. The event offers information, complimentary meals, health screenings, and direct access to over 20 government agencies, nonprofits, and service providers.

Participating Organizations: The expo will feature participation from numerous organizations, including Burlington County Military and Veterans Services Office, Burlington County Clerk’s Office, Burlington County Department of Human Services, Burlington County Health Department, Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, Burlington County American Legion, American Red Cross, Armed Forces Heritage Museum, Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter, Brain Injury Alliance of NJ, Army Reserves Private Public Partnership, Disabled American Veterans, Habitat for Humanity, Department of Veterans Affairs, Philadelphia VA Healthcare System, New Jersey State Police, HeroCare Connect (Deborah Heart & Lung Center/Cooper University Health), Sanctuary Foundation for Veterans, Soldier On, South Jersey Legal Services, and Veterans Multi-Service Center.
Hunterdon County Veterans Resource Fair
Date and Time: Thursday, Oct. 16, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Location: Razberry’s Banquet Hall, 834 Route 12, Frenchtown
Hosting Organizations: Hunterdon County Board of County Commissioners, Office of Rep. Thomas Kean Jr. and Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce
Description: Hunterdon County’s 2nd Annual Veterans Resource Fair is intended to support veterans by connecting them with essential services and resources from the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (NJDMAVA) and other local providers.

Veterans benefits counseling
Registration: The event is free and open to all veterans, active service members, and their families. Veterans interested in attending can register through the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce website.
Special Note: Light refreshments will be served at the event.
Somerset County Veterans Resource, Job & Wellness Fair
Date and Time: Thursday, Oct. 16, 4 to 7 p.m.
Location: Thomas J. Kavanaugh VFW Post 2290, 600 Washington Ave., Manville
Hosting Organization: Somerset County Commissioners, led by Commissioner Director Shanel Y. Robinson
Event Description: The Somerset County Veterans Resource, Job & Wellness Fair, designed to provide veterans and their families with resources, employment opportunities, health and wellness information, VA disability information, and access to services.

Participating Organizations: The event will feature more than 40 vendors. Potential vendors will include: American Water, Community Hope of NJ, Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal Air Marshal Service, Hackensack Meridian Health, Johnson & Johnson, New Jersey Department of Military & Veterans Affairs, United Way of Northern New Jersey, Department of Veterans Affairs, and Veterans Affairs Healthcare Administration.
Special Note: “Last year, our Veterans Services division, in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs, was able to help our Somerset County resident veterans obtain $5.8 million in benefits,” Robinson said in a written statement. “As an Air Force veteran, I’m familiar with the challenges that veterans face. I encourage veterans and their families to attend this event; we can help you navigate access to resources and will be sharing other vital information.”
Ocean County Veterans Health Fair
Date and Time: Saturday, Oct. 18, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Location: Holiday City South Club House, 139 Santiago Drive, Toms River
Hosting Organizations: Veterans Foundation of America (VFA) in collaboration with Ocean County State Senator Carmen Amato and the Ocean County Commissioners
Event Description: Sponsored by Braven Health, the fair will provide a wide range of free clinical services from Hackensack Meridian Health and Deborah Heart & Lung Center through HeroCare Connect. The event is free for veterans and their families.

Cumberland County VA seminar ‘Navigating the Benefits Maze’
Date and Time: Monday, Oct. 20, 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Location: Vineland City Hall, 640 East Wood St.
Hosting Organization: Cumberland County Department of Veterans Affairs
Event Description: Cumberland County Veteran Affairs Director Diana Pitman, an Army veteran, will present a seminar explaining the VA Benefits Administration, the rationale behind the process, and information that veterans and dependents should know that will aid in “easing frustrations and understanding the complexities of the claims process.”
There will be time for questions at designated times within the seminar and at the end. This is not a claims clinic so the Department asks that attendees do not ask specific questions regarding their own claims.

5th Annual American Legion Symposium on Affordable Housing for Homeless Veterans
Date and Time: Tuesday, Oct. 28, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: Stockton University, 101 Vera King Farris Drive, Galloway, Atlantic County
Event Description: The event, hosted by Stockton University and supported by Monarch Housing, Foundation for Sustainable Veteran Housing, will feature guest speaker be Kathryn Monet, CEO, National Coalition for Homeless Veterans. There will be small group workshops on topics including supportive services, veterans with special needs, aging, addictions, and more.
Experts in veteran housing, veteran services and veteran homelessness will be on hand to provide insights into the challenges of providing housing for at risk and homeless veterans and discuss the programs and tools available to ensure that all veterans are housed with dignity.
