The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, was the special guest at the special dinner to honour Professor Kwasi Obiri Danso, the former Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, who has been appointed by the government as Ghana’s High Commissioner to India.
In a brief remark at the event, hosted by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace on October 6, 2025, the Asantehene spoke about how fond he is of the Ga Mantse, whom he described as a “brother”.
He appeared to be particularly enthused about meeting the wife of the Ga Mantse, whom he said he had heard much about from Nii Teiko Tsuru II.
“I appreciate our relationship; he calls me daddy, and I love him and respect him, and I trust we can support him also,” Otumfuo Osei Tutu II said.
“He came with his dear wife. Today, he introduced her to me, but he has always been talking to me about her — that ‘my wife is here,’ and today he brought her,” he added.

The Asantehene went on to urge the attendees of the event, who were mostly faculty members of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), including the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Rita Akosua Dickson, to enjoy themselves.
On a lighter note, he told them to leave their academic work and enjoy themselves, even if the university was going to collapse.
