One of the last text messages Charlie Kirk sent before he was assassinated has been revealed on his radio show hosted by US Vice President JD Vance.

Vance on The Charlie Kirk Show, speaking from the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in the White House on Monday, opened by saying that ‘left-wing extremism’ was ‘part of the reason’ that Kirk was shot dead last week.

The first guest on the show, White House deputy chief of staff for policy Steven Miller, said the last message that Kirk sent him the day before he was killed was ‘we need to have an organized strategy to go after left-wing organisations that are promoting violence in this country’.

Miller vowed, ‘I will write those words on my heart and I will carry them out.’

He added that he is feeling ‘incredible sadness and this incredible anger’ over Kirk’s death and explained how he would channel it in Kirk’s memory.

‘We are going to channel all of the anger that we have to uproot and dismantle these terrorist networks. It is a vast domestic terror movement,’ Miller said.

‘And with God as my witness, we are going to use every resource we have to the DOJ, DHS, and throughout this government to identify, disrupt, dismantle, and destroy these networks.

‘It will happen and we will do it in Charlie’s name.’

After President Donald Trump won the 2024 election, Kirk was in the campaign of the transition office every day for several months volunteering his time, Miller said.

‘Charlie would send me message all the time just saying, you know, great work or here’s a new idea or here’s what I think will take this to the next level, and I took them all to heart,’ he said, and then started choking up.

‘And God, I just loved the man so much.’

Vance credited Kirk and his grassroots movement among youth conservatives as the reason he was selected as Trump’s vice presidential nominee, and them going on to win the election.

‘I worry that he is just fundamentally an irreplaceable figure,’ Vance said.

White House chief of staff Susie Wiles and Vance discussed concerns around how Kirk’s organisation, Turning Point USA, will continue its mission on college and high school campuses without Kirk’s talent and personality.

‘That’s the way in which I worry about the assassin winning, is we’ve got to carry on the mantle, we’ve got to carry on the torch and we’ve got to do it by continuing the message, it’s why I’m doing the show today,’ Vance said.

‘We’re not going to let Charlie’s mantle be discarded, we’re going to keep carrying it.’

Vance claimed that the left has more people who rejoice on the death of a political enemy than vice versa for the right.

‘While our side of the aisle certainly has its crazies, it is a statistical fact that most of the lunatics of American politics today are members of the left,’ the vice president said.

Kirk was shot in the neck while speaking to students at Utah Valley University in Orem and died of a single bullet on September 10. Vance promised that he, Miller and the Trump administration will work to stop ‘terror’ groups he blamed for killing Kirk.

The vice president said they will work to ‘bring real unity to our country and stop those who kill fellow Americans just because they don’t like what they say’.
