A care home in East Kilbride was host to a major multi-agency training exercise to help residents and staff respond emergency situations.
Whitehills Care Home welcomed the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), Police Scotland, the Scottish Ambulance Service, where Enhance Healthcare staff helped the coordinated effort to ensure the highest standards of safety for everyone.
The exercise provided Scotland’s emergency services with a vital opportunity to test and refine their coordinated response in a care home setting and included:
• A full building evacuation
• Actors as casualties with simulated injuries
• Artificial smoke and fire alarms
• Presence of emergency vehicles and uniformed personnel
The exercise was held in an unoccupied section of the care home, currently awaiting refurbishment, to ensure a safe and controlled environment.
